Hey everyone, Tobias here! Can you believe we’re already staring at the end of May? It feels like just yesterday we were waiting for the ground to thaw, and now we’re staring down the barrel of a busy June. The weather is finally catching up to the calendar, and the energy in the Burlington and Hamilton area is absolutely electric right now.
Whether you’re spending your weekend browsing Burlington condos for sale or you’re out enjoying the local community events, there is so much to see and do. This is one of my favorite times of the year because the neighborhoods really come alive. People are out in their yards, the parks are full, and the local event calendar is packed.
At Team Smulders, we’ve been running full tilt. The spring market has been interesting this year: lots of activity, but we’re seeing a real shift as we head into the summer months. If you’ve been thinking about a move, now is the time to get your ducks in a row before the summer heat really hits.
But enough about work for a second. Let's talk about what's happening this weekend. Here is your Friday 5 for May 29th through May 31st.
1. Theatre Burlington Playtime Festival
If you’re looking for a dose of culture that won't take up your entire evening, you have to check out the Playtime Festival at Theatre Burlington. This isn't your standard long-form play; it’s an annual 10-minute play festival where local artists get to showcase their creativity in short, punchy segments.

It’s a fantastic way to see a variety of stories and acting styles all in one sitting. I love supporting local theater because it’s the heartbeat of our community’s creative scene. The festival runs Friday and Saturday, with both evening and matinee options.
- When: May 29 at 7:00 pm, May 30 at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm.
- Where: Theatre Burlington (Drama Centre, Central Park, Burlington, ON).
- Official Website: Theatre Burlington
- Tickets: Get your tickets here
2. PBR Canada Cup Series
For something a little more high-octane, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series is bucking into Hamilton this Saturday. If you’ve never seen a professional bull riding event in person, let me tell you: the energy in the arena is wild.

It’s man vs. beast for eight seconds of pure adrenaline. This is a massive production with big lights, loud music, and some of the best athletes in the world. It’s a great night out for families or anyone looking for a unique sporting experience right here in the city.
- When: Saturday, May 30, 2026.
- Where: TD Coliseum (FirstOntario Centre), Hamilton, ON.
- Official Website: PBR Canada
- Tickets: PBR Tickets on Ticketmaster
3. Hamilton Cardinals vs. Brantford Red Sox
There is nothing quite like a Friday night under the lights at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. The Hamilton Cardinals are taking on the Brantford Red Sox in Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) action.

Baseball is the quintessential sound of summer. Whether you're a die-hard stats nerd or just there for the hot dogs and the atmosphere, the Cardinals put on a great show. It’s affordable, local, and a perfect way to kick off the weekend with the kids. Plus, the stadium has that great old-school feel that makes you appreciate the history of sports in Hamilton.
- When: Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7:30 pm.
- Where: Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium, Hamilton, ON.
- Official Website: Hamilton Cardinals
- Tickets: Cardinals Tickets
4. Hamilton Karting Complex: RMC Ontario Round 1
Ready to see the racing stars of tomorrow? The Hamilton Karting Complex is hosting Round 1 of the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Ontario this weekend. This is high-level competitive karting where drivers of all ages (from Micro to Masters) compete for a spot on the national stage.

The speed these karts hit is actually incredible. If you have kids who are into cars or racing, this is a must-visit. You can walk the paddock, see the karts up close, and watch some really tight racing on one of the best tracks in the province.
- When: May 29–31, 2026.
- Where: Hamilton Karting Complex, Hamilton/Flamborough.
- Official Website: Hamilton Karting Complex
5. eat • make • share: a taste of immigration
For something a bit more reflective and community-focused, the Joseph Brant Museum is hosting a unique exhibit/program titled eat • make • share: a taste of immigration. This event explores the cultural fabric of our region through the lens of food, craft, and shared stories.

Burlington and Hamilton are such vibrant melting pots, and seeing how different cultures have influenced our local culinary and artistic scenes is fascinating. It’s an interactive way to learn about the history of the people who built our communities.
- When: May 29–31, 2026.
- Where: Joseph Brant Museum, Burlington, ON.

Real Estate Wrap-Up: The May-to-June Transition
As we close out May, I’m seeing a lot of movement in the local market. If you’ve been keeping an eye on Burlington condos for sale, you’ve probably noticed that well-priced units are moving quickly. People are looking to settle in before the new school year or the summer vacation season really kicks in.
In Hamilton, the demand for single-family homes is still strong. If you’re looking for real estate agents Hamilton ON, you want someone who knows the nuances of each neighborhood: from the Mountain to the West End. That’s where Team Smulders comes in. We don’t just list houses; we prepare them.
Our professional prep crew has been busy this month helping sellers get their homes "market-ready." Whether it’s a quick spruce-up or full-on staging, we make sure your home stands out. If you’re planning a summer move, let’s chat. We can help you navigate the late-spring surge and ensure you’re getting the best possible value.
