This Cool Candy Company is Closing Toronto Factory After 100 Years of Operation!
After more than 100 years of calling Toronto their home, Kerr’s Candy is leaving its Etobicoke factory for a new production facility in the heart of Oakville.
The land that the current locations is on is owned by the TCDSB, and with nearby Holy Angels Catholic School deciding to expand, Kerr’s has unfortunately been forced to move locations.
This is not the first time that Kerr’s has been forced to find a new home, dating back to their original St. Thomas location that opened up in 1985.
The company moved to Toronto in the early 1900s and has been a mainstay at the CNA and found all sorts of retailers from Walmart to Shoppers Drug Mart.
The Kerr’s team has stated that they are excited for the upcoming changes and are excited about the new opportunities the Oakville facility will have to offer them.
Since the current locations is in a residential area, the Kerr’s team has been limited to what hours they can produce their product and have trucks coming in and out of their facility.. The company’s online store will also continue to deliver to Toronto.
With over 135 years of history, Herr’s has been an iconic part of many Toronto stories, this move outside the city is just the start of its newest and most exciting chapter.
