Below is a list of Provincial Parks close to the GTA that you can explore this weekend!
Bronte Creek Provincial Park
Where: 1219 Burloak Dr, Oakville, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 9 PM
Bronte Creek Provincial Park is located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Ontario Parks system. The 6.4-square-kilometer park is located at the western edge of Oakville, bordering on Burlington. The park features hiking and biking trails, cross-country skiing, and a play barn.
Forks of the Credit Provincial Park
Where: 17760 McLaren Rd, Caledon, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 8 PM
Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, located in Caledon, Ontario, Canada, is part of the Ontario Parks system and is part of the Niagara Escarpment biosphere. The park is on the Bruce Trail. The Credit River runs through the park. Other notable features of the park include a kettle lake and talus slope.
Sibbald Point Provincial Park
Where: 26071 Park Rd, Jacksons Point, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 10 PM
Sibbald Point Provincial Park is a provincial park located in Sutton West, Ontario, Canada on the southern shores of Lake Simcoe, 70 kilometers north of Toronto.
Darlington Provincial Park
Where: 1600 Darlington Park Rd, Bowmanville, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 10 PM
Darlington Provincial Park is a part of the Ontario Provincial Parks system. It is located just south of Highway 401 near the town of Courtice, between the cities of Bowmanville and Oshawa.
Holland Landing Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve
Where: 8 Cedar St, Holland Landing, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 11 PM
Located on the deep sand and silt deposits of the former Algonquin Lake Plain, this nature reserve protects one of the few remaining remnant patches of tallgrass prairie in Ontario. Currently, much of the reserve is planted with Red Pine, but future plans include restoring the native prairie ecosystem.
McRae Point Provincial Park
Where: 4366 McRae Park Rd, Longford Mills, ON
Hours: 8 AM – 10 PM
- Pull-through sites for large and extra large equipment
- On the shores of Lake Simcoe near Orillia
- 1.2 km nature trail
- Boat launch and boat rentals close by
- Swimming
- Novelty ice cream, firewood, ice, and Ontario Parks merchandise available at Registration Office
- Restaurants, gas stations, shopping, and convenience stores are within a 15 min drive.
