October is a beautiful month full of fun events, colourful leaves, and crisp cool air. As Thanksgiving and Halloween approach, there are many festivals and fairs to check out! Team Smulders has compiled a list of the fairs happening in and around Hamilton.
Applefest Fall Fair
When: October 1st
Where: Ireland House Museum, Burlington
Celebrate the changing of the seasons at Ireland House Museum’s Applefest Fall Fair. The day will feature main stage entertainment, vendors, Museum tours, farm animals, historic demonstrations, and a mini farmers market. Treat yourself to a serving of our signature house-baked apple crisp!

Kinderfest Fall Fair
When: October 1st
Where: Bingemans, 425 Bingemans Centre Dr., Kitchener ON
The Region’s newest Fall Festival with fun for the whole family! Children’s entertainment on the stage including Erick Traplin and more! Check out the carnival rides and inflatables, pumpkin cookie decorating, fall treats and drinks, and face painting.

Fall Festival at Chiefswood Park
When: October 1st
Where: 1037 Brant County Highway 54, Caledonia ON
This fall festival includes kids rollercoasters, a rock climbing wall, a mechanical bull, food trucks, indigenous vendors and so much more!

Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show
When: October 4th – 10th
Where: 172 South Sr., Simcoe
With midway rides, livestock competitions, a local marketplace, and a demolition derby, you will not want to miss out! Headliners Hunter Brothers and Walk Off The Earth tickets are on sale now.

Rockton Carnival

Where: Rockton World’s Fairground, Rockton, ON
The Rockton Agricultural Society is committed to Agriculture, Education, and Entertainment. Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend in Rockton with midway rides, food vendors, local goods, and more!

Woodbridge Fall Fair
When: October 7 – 10
Where: Woodbridge Fairgrounds
The Woodbridge Fall Fair includes rides and games, history and antiques, shows, competitions, and animal shows! The competitions are open to the public and fall under the categories of Agriculture, Art, Culinary Arts, Floriculture, Antiques, Elementary School Arts, Photography, and Needle Work/Crafts. The Woodbridge Fall Fair is also home to the Farmer Olympics where teams of 4 – 6 players will compete in games to win a cash prize!

Ball’s Fall Festival
When: October 7 – 10
Where: Ball’s Falls Conservation Area, Lincoln, ON
Entering its 48th year, the Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival is a Niagara Tradition that will run from October 7th through October 10th. Guests will enjoy a classic family favourite and a longstanding Niagara Tradition in a safe and familiar way! The festival includes 150+ in-person craft and artisan vendors, delicious foods, craft beverages and wines, local farmers’ market vendors, live acoustic music and children’s entertainment, historical demonstrations, heritage tours and nature hikes.

Burford Fall Fair
When: October 8th – 10th
Where: 6 Park Ave., Burford
This fun fair features an antique car show, pet show, monster trucks, demolition derby, horse show, and chainsaw competitions. On Monday, they will also be offering a beautiful Thanksgiving lunch! With midway rides, food, playgrounds, and a meet and greet with princesses, this family fun fair is a must-see.

Apple Festival

AGH Festival
When: October 14 – 23
Where: 123 King St W Hamilton
A 10-day multi-arts Festival showcasing the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s core programs, key community partnerships, and emerging arts from the Southwestern Ontario region. he Festival will expand its focus beyond film to include cultural practices such as visual art, performance, craft, and other creative genres. In Hamilton’s culturally distinct presentation spaces and within the AGH, the Festival will stage concerts, films, parties, pop-ups, and workshops which will build unforgettable connective experiences and echo the integral exhibitions and collection items on display in the Gallery

Hamilton Poutine Fest
When: October 13 – 16
Where: Gage Park, Hamilton
Poutine Feast is a collection of award-winning food professionals specializing in the greatest food ever invented in Canada, the poutine, and will be touring across Ontario this summer. With over 50 variations and generous portions, there is poutine for everyone from vegans to meat lovers.
