It’s October This Weekend!
October 1st is this Sunday which means it’s the official start of the spooky season. Do you like ghost walks? Fall fairs? Corn mazes? Hamilton has all that and more!
Hamilton has some very well-known spooky sites to explore along with many Halloween and fall-themed events this month.
Heritage Ruins Ghost Walks
Where: Heritage Cascade, 603 Sulphur Springs Rd, Ancaster
When: July 23rd – October 30th
This spooky ghost walk starts in the rarely-opened gatehouse before abandoning light for darkness. You will walk down a short path to the hidden place with much history, legends, and ghosts. This walk also features stories of a doomed coachman, shadows following the tour, experiences over generations, and Ancaster’s infamous legend.
Pumpkinfest at Merry Farms
Where: Merry Farms, 1974 Concession 2 Rd W, Hamilton
When: October 1st – October 23rd
Enjoy an amazing corn maze, a wooden train playground, pumpkin bowling and so much more! Perfect for all ages and under 2 yrs old are free. Be sure to check out their corn toss games, huge climbing spider web, and pumpkin tic tac toe.
That’s So Cinema – Interactive Movie Nights
Where: The Zoetic Company Inc, 526 Concession Street, Hamilton
When: October 8th – December 3rd
“THAT’S SO CINEMA” is An Interactive Movie Experience. We’re showing a classic movie and giving you a list of interactive rules. If you can’t keep quiet at a movie, this is the night for you. This year they will be showing Casper, Scream, The Goonies, and Home Alone.
The Great Pumpkin Trail
Where: Hendrie Park, 680 Plains Rd W, Burlington
When: October 21st – October 30th
The Great Pumpkin Trail returns to Hendrie Park, with more dates than ever!
It’s a magical evening on the Pumpkin Trail! Follow the candlelit glow of hundreds of jack-o-lanterns guiding your way through Hendrie Park, and along the South Bridle Trail.
Encounter roaming entertainment and other special guests who are ready to share some cool seasonal facts.
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to take part in this family-friendly event celebrating the fall season. Don’t forget your costume!
The Great Pumpkin Stroll
Where: Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum, 64 Sulphur Springs Rd, Ancaster
When: October 27th
Fieldcote is pleased to partner with Frank Panabaker Home & School Association for this “boo-tiful” event. Bring the whole family for some spooky fun in Fieldcote Memorial Park and savor the flavors of local food trucks. Everyone is encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and to submit a pumpkin for display.
- Deliver your carved and decorated pumpkin to the bandstand at Fieldcote on Thursday, October 27 from 10 am to 1 pm.
- Recognition will be presented for the most creative, the scariest, and the funniest pumpkin for Businesses, Schools, and Families.
Dundurn Castle and Ghost Bus Tour
Where: Dundurn Castle, 610 York Blvd, Hamilton
When: October 1st – October 29th
Dundurn Castle and a Bus Tour is a special 2-part event! See hidden historic haunts in Hamilton. Then a rare chance to go inside the famous mansion at night.
Starting on a bus and a 1-hour tour of the Haunted City. Stories of voodoo, insanity, our first haunted house, and much more. Featuring Century Manor Asylum, Auchmar, the Armouries, and Custom House.
Then go inside Dundurn Castle. Wander where you want, and hear the interesting, darker history. Conducting your own investigation with a pendulum. Before entering the garden for some ghost stories.
Spirits with Spirits at Ireland House Museum
Where: Ireland House Mm, 2168 Guelph Line, Burlington
When: October 28th
Eat, drink and be scary! Experience a tour of Ireland House Museum at night with a ghoulish twist. You’ll learn about mourning traditions throughout the years and the Victorian tradition of post-mortem photography.
Join Patrick Cross of Burlington Ghost Walks for fireside ghost stories.
Specialty spooky cocktails and treats will be served during your visit.
