The Lyrid Meteor Shower is one of the oldest meteor showers dating back 2700 years; the first recorded sighting goes back to 687 BC.
The Lyrids leave glowing trains of ionized gas behind them as they burn through the Earth’s atmosphere. This year, at its peak, you could see 10 – 15 meteors per hour!
